This is a place for Ms. Sills' students to discuss all issues related to our in-class read alouds. Students are responsible for assignments related to the content on this blog, and they can also use this space to ask questions, help one another and problem-solve all things related to in-class read alouds.
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that i find to be important is that Victor really like Teresa or however its spelled. I think its important because it could change a lot of things like how victor acts throughout the book. Also it could affect it by him trying to get into classes with her and if he tries to hang out with her he could really embaress himslef.
ReplyDeleteOne part of "Seventh Grade" that I feel to be important is when Theresa and Victor where in class and the teacher asked what is an example of a noun and Victor said Theresa. I think it may be important because that was kinda an embarresing moment for Victor.
ReplyDelete-TeAndra Jenkins
One thing i find to be important is the way Teresa looked at Victor. I think it may be important because since he likes her she might now like him back.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is that the main character, Victor, is very real. His thinking is the thinking of a 7th grader. He wonders what others think of him. I think this may be important because it enables us to connect to the character, and that is essential in a story.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that i think is important is that the Victor is trying to ask out the girl who he likes because he is trying to over come his fear and talk to her.
ReplyDeleteMichael Urban
One aspect of the book "Seventh Grade" that I think is very important is the fact that Victor is in love with Teresa. I think this is important because it motivates Victor to impress Teresa in classes that they have in common. An example of this was in French class when Victor acted like he knew French phrases to impress Teresa. Even though his French phrases were inaccurate he still sparked Teresa's interest.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason this is important is because during classes he doesn't share with Teresa he still thinks about her and sometimes loses his focus. An example of this is in ELA when the teacher asked him what a noun was and he said, "Teresa". The whole class laughed out loud during this scene.
The love interest is an integral part of the story that makes the book funny and interesting.
Again i feel the same way as Noah. I pretty much wrote the same thing (leaving out the examples). I also think that him being in love with Teresa will play a big part in this book.
ReplyDeleteone thing i think that is important about the book seventh grade is victor thinks scowling will get teresa's attention but it really doesnt work
ReplyDeletenicholas mikelinich
hey mikel i think the same thing
ReplyDeletenicholas mikelinich
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is that Victor is madly inlove Thersea I think it may be important because Victor only focus on Thersea and when the teacher called on him he said Thersea. So I think it will interfer with his school work.
ReplyDelete- Nicholas Duarte
One aspect of "Seventh Grede" that i find important is when Victor was trying to ask out Teresa, and when she did talk to him he got nervouse and would say something he didn't want to say that he thought sounded dumb.
ReplyDeleteI think this maybe important, because he was trying to over come his fear of talking to Teresa and asking her out, and in the end he did get to hang out with Teresa even though he told her he knew how to speak French when he didn't
You are definitely right, Amy. It is so much easier to connect with a character that you can relate to. It is interesting and easy to understand when you can feel the same emotions the author is describing. In this case the main character is my age and is going through the same daily routines as me.
ReplyDeleteIn the book I'm reading now, the main character is over 40 years old and lives in a very different world. Even though I can't relate to the character in this book, it is still interesting to see this completely different lifestyle. It makes me imagine what my life could be like in this unknown world. So, I guess it is important that the author enables the reader to make a connection to his/her characters either real or imagined.
One aspect in the short story "Seventh Grade" that I noticed was that through out the text Terressa was always trying to make Victor feel better of himself in some way.For example in french Terresa went up to Victor and told him that he spoke french very well.I am not to sure if Terresa really thought he knew french, but to me she was just trying to warm him(to make him feel better). To me and most of the people in the grand conversation was that Terresa likes Victor as well. The short story did not finish how I thought it would with victor going to tutor Terresa in french.I thought that they would end up going out before the story was over.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of the book "Seventh Grade" i think would be how victor acts around Teresa. Like when he sees her in the hall and trys to give her a smirk to make him look cool.
ReplyDelete-Kaitlyn Berry
Amy what do you mean that Victor is very real.
ReplyDeleteMichael Urban
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I think is important is that Teresa knows that Victor likes her already. I think that's important to the story because if Teresa didn't know the story would be different.
ReplyDeleteLike when Victor was pretending to speak French, Teresa pretended he was speaking real Freanch and didn't laugh at him and was very nice because she knew Victor liked her. That's why at the end of the book Victor said that he would like 7th grade.
Maybe if Teresa had laughed at Victor he wouldn't have said he was going to like 7th grade and the ending to the book would be different.
~Michaela Sawaya
TeAndra, I thought that was an important part of the story, too. It let the whole class know that he liked Teresa and thought about her all the time. It was also embarassing for Victor, because of the same reason.
ReplyDeleteAmy I really think that too. He is really realistic as like you said.
ReplyDelete-michelle danowski
One aspect of the book Seventh Grade that I think is vary important is when Teresa said hi to Victor because Victor might get the sense that she wants to talk to him and maybe she wants to be firends with him. If victor express his feelings to Teresa maybe she'll feel the same way back.
ReplyDeleteVaritta Thammarat
Sweetnow - I have no idea who you are. Remember, if you don't identify yourself, you don't get credit!
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find important is that when the English teacher asked for a person Victor immediately said Teresa, because he was thinking about her.I think this is important because it shows how much Victor likes Teresa. Also it is important because Teresa probably now knows how Victor feels about her, and this might affect thier relationship as friends.
ReplyDelete-Matt Conforti
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find important is the fact that Victor really put in effort to try and get Terisa to spend time with him I think that this is important because he tried and tried and at the end he succeded.
ReplyDelete-Kylie Harris
Noah, I totally agree with you that the one of the main aspects of the story is that Victor is totally in Love with Terisa because of how he constantly thinks about her.
ReplyDelete-Kylie Harris
I agree with michaela how teresa just said that she thinked that victor was good at french even though he wasnt and he mde it all up. But she said it was good because she likes him.
ReplyDelete-Kaitlyn Berry
Nick I agree I think it will interfer with Victor school work too.
ReplyDelete- TeAndra Jenkins
One aspect of Seventh Grade that I find to be important is the relationship between Victor and Theresa. I think this may be im portant because Victor seems very determined to spend as much time as he can with her. He chose the same language as Theresa so he could be in the same class as her. Also in his ELA class, he even used her name as an example for a noun. This tells me that he is always thinking about her. In French class he even pretended to talk French to try and impress Theresa... But that plan backfired. I thought it was really funny the way he embarrassed himself.
ReplyDeleteQuit taking Amys idea!Think of somthing else.Gosh.Anyways, I think an important aspect of the book is that Victor is taking this liking Tereasa thing a little too seriously, dont get me wrong I think its a little cute that he wants to impress her so badly he's willing to embarrase himself for her, but I think this might also be important because it might also place a conflict in the story, and teach a moral or something in how being you yourself is the only way to really know if you like the person or if they'll except you for who you are.
ReplyDeletePEACE,
-Ashley Calle
I agree with matt & noah that Victor being in love with Teresa is important because its like the point of the story.
ReplyDelete~Michaela Sawaya
Noah, agree with you 100%. Victor being madly in love with Theresa does make the story very funny and interesting. I can't wait to see how he embarasses himself next.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find important is how much Vistor likes Teresa. If he didn't like as muchas he does, then he probably wouldn't interpret her looks and actions the way he does now. And I agree with Amy - a character that seems real always makes the book better.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of Seventh Grade is that Victor wanted to ask out a girl he has liked since they were in kindergarten but he hasn't found the courage to do so. I think this will be important because Victor will act differently around Teresa. like he will try to act smart or just be shy .
ReplyDeleteMicchelle I think that is also important because it let the redears now that he really liked teresa without really saying that he did. That , I think, is avery important aspect of the book.
ReplyDeleteMicheal, what I mean by Victor is very real is that he's easy to relate to. He has the same thinking pattern as an average 7th grader
ReplyDeleteI find that the crush that Victor has for Theresa is important because the beginning of the story is based on little actions made by Victor showing that he likes Theresa. We are not sure if Theresa like Victor but she shows signs that she does. This keeps the reader wanting to read more to see what the outcome will be.
ReplyDeleteNoah/Amy - I agree - I also like books that I can relate to. This makes a book more interesting because you put yourself into their shoes.
I agree with Noah and John. Victor emarrassing himself over Terrisa ( I don't know how to spell her name...) does make the story more interesting! But I don't understand why Victor used her name as a noun. That's embarrassing to him AND Terrisa! Plus, why did that kid say "Terrisa`s house full of big brothers" for? Maybe it's because a lot of boys like her, but I'm still not sure... :)
ReplyDeleteBTW- John, which John are you? Sorry for asking...
ReplyDeleteI think that Seventh Grade is very funny. Also,I like the part when Michael was scowling.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is that Victor has a cruch on Teresa and that he trys ANYTHING to impress Teresa.I think it may be important because she might have the same feelings for him.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amy because when you connect to the character you find something different that you dont know and it might help you understand the character more.
-Nicole Pieta
I think that the antagonist of Seventh Grade is the inside of Victor he just has to overcome the crush on Theresa. But they can still be friends.\
ReplyDelete-Cassie Markert
Noah and John i feel the same way about the story.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that i find to be important is that Victor sais to the french teacher thathe knows french. It made him look really stupid! I think he was just trying to impress Teresa!
ReplyDelete-Heather O'Connor
TeAndra i also think the same thing. Victor must have been VERY embaressed! I know i would be.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of Seventh Grade that I find to be important is that Victor was trying to impress Theresa in french even though he didn't even know nothing about the question. I think it may be important because it shows that Victor really wants to impress Theresa.
ReplyDelete-Michael McKay
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" That I find important is how Victor has a ginormous crush on Tereassa and How victor can not stop thinking abou her. I think this is important because throughtout the story Victor mind was all about Tereassa and he was trying to build up courae to ask her out.
ReplyDelete- victoria Carroll ☺
iitskaylaax0 i totally agree with you.
ReplyDeletealso John and Noah you guys are right there love intrest does make the story interesting and funny.
-Victoria
Heather and TeAndra i feel the same. I mean Victor trys to impress her in French and the makes a complete fool out of himself. I could picture how Victor felt.
ReplyDeleteI agree Amy, i also think that Victor is very real. You can easily relate to him and his experiences throughout the book. I think the author did a great job writing this book.
ReplyDelete- Matt Conforti
Miss Sills I need help I posted a response on monday but it still didn't show up :( . What do I do?
ReplyDelete-Elise Littlefield
An important aspect of seventh grade was when Teresa started to show that she also liked Victor, when she said "You speak good French. Maybe you can help me out sometime?", when it is implied that she knows that Victor cannot speak French. I think this boosts up Victor's confidents level and now he has a better chance of getting what he wants: to be Teresa's boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteI think this aspect is important because it goes along with the theme story, which is to take a chance because it's always possible that things could turn out for the better, and not for the worst.
- Elise Littlefield
I agree with Noah,John, and Michael that how the "love" that Victor has for Teresa, and what he does to try to impress her does make the book funny and interesting .
ReplyDeleteI also thought it was funny how the cinflict resolved by Teresa kind of asking Victor out, asking if they could study for French together.
I agree with Heather in french class what victor did real made him look and feel stupid!
ReplyDelete-Michael McKay
one aspect of the story "7th grade" is that victor didnt know any french and pretended that he did.I find that situation important because it shows victor is a dedicated person.he'll do anything he can and even some things he cant just to get the things he really wants.
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that is important is when Victor and Terisa were going to be friend, but instead, Victor taught Terisa French. I think it is important because Victor was saying random things to the teacher and Terisa thought it was French. So she asks him to teach her French. ---Daren
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "Seventh Grade" that is important is when Victor looked for Terisa in luch and trying to be hidden.I Think this is important because this shows he realy likes Terisa.
ReplyDeleteI agree Matt because it shows that he really likes her
ReplyDelete-Dan Hogan-
I agree with you Erik because I also think that it is pretty funny when Michael was scouling.--Daren
ReplyDeleteOne aspect of "seventh grade" that is really important to the story is that victor really likes terresa. this is important because if victor didnt like terresa there wouldn't be a story or at least one that was good.
ReplyDeletei agree with you amy. victor is very realistic. this is why i think the story is so interesting
ReplyDeleteone aspect of " Seventh Grade" that is important is when Victor finds out that Terisa is in his french class so that gave hm a chance to help her out and get her to like him.
ReplyDelete-Nicky Herzog-
Yeah Heather i agree. I think it is also important though beacuse he doesnt know that much french but he is going to read books and learn more and then he is going to help terisa.
ReplyDelete-Nicky Herzog-
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is that Victor really likes Theresa and he lies to try to impress her. I think it may be important because Victor can get Theresa so mad that she won't want to talk to her, and that will get him really upset.
ReplyDeleteNicole , I agree with you that victor is a person that will do ANYTHING for theresa, that shows me that he really likes her
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kaitlyn because he just mumbled words.
ReplyDelete- Nicholas Duarte
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is Victor is inlove with Thersea I think it may be important because Victor lied about being good in french.
ReplyDeleteAnd i agree with Daren. I think that is really important because he didnt have say real french.
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I find to be important is, when Victor feels confident that he got Teresa. What I also think is important is when Victor really gets Teresa's attention, when he speaks fake french. Another thing I think is important is when Victor overcomes his fear of making a fool of himself in front of Teresa.
ReplyDeleteVictor was afraid of himself.
One aspect of "Seventh Grade" that I found to be important was, as Amy Methven pointed out, I also thought the way Victor thinks is a very important part of the story. I thought some of the things Victor thought were very humorus! I did laugh at some parts of the book! I thought it was important because it shows some of the readers how your tipical, average seventh grader would think. (Well some seventh graders!)
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! It's Dorothy I actually enjoyed reading your comment. I thought the same idea as you! I hope you wont get mad at me for taking your idea. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Dorothy! This post was actually last week's homework, so you won't get credit, but I'm so happy that you jumped into the assignment! Make sure to look at the most recent posts on Writers and Grammar & Mechanics - they are this week's homework. Good job!
