Stargirl Plotline

Now that we're completing the book, I'd like to know your thoughts on when each point on the plotline occurred in Stargirl.

For your homework, name each of the five points on the plotline and write a description of when each occurred in the novel.

Use your comment back to discuss someone's ideas that differ from yours. Please remember, don't just repeat what you say in your response.

  2. All the points on the plot line are exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Exposition happened when Stargirl came to Mica High on the first day of school. Rising Action happened when Stargirl and Leo told their feelings about each other. Climax happened when Leo picked the school instead of Stargirl and Leo becomes "one of them." Falling Action happened when the school was at the Octillo Ball and the "Bunny Hop" song came on and everyone started dancing with Stargirl. The resolution happened when Hillary slapped Stargirl and no one ever saw Stargirl again.

  3. Exposition: The exposition occured at lunch on the first day of school when Stargirl and all of the other characters were introduced.
Rising Action: I think the rising action started when Stargirl was singing for Hillary but she sang to Leo then said he was cute.
Climax: I think the climax started when Stargirl put up the sheet saying she loves Leo in red paint.
Falling Action: I think the falling action was the ball at the country club when she started to get popular again with the bunny hop thing but then it all ended (resolution) when she had the "For Sale" sign outside her house.

  4. The first point on Stargirl was when we were first introduced to Stargirl, Leo, Kevin, Hillari, Wayne, and so on. The action continued rising from there. The climax, in my opinion, was when Leo went off on Stargirl. I think that the falling action started when Stargirl left with Dori in the sidecar.

That's my summary of things. Oh, By the way, Ashley....

    YURI!!! =)

  5. Exposition: I think the exposition is when Leo recives a porcupine necktie in the mail.

Risin Action: I think the rising action is when Leo began to relize that Stargirl and him like eachother

Climax: I think the climax was when the school started ignoring Stargirl and giving her the silent treatment. The having leo have to choose between the school and Stargirl and him finally choosing the school.

Falling Action: I think the falling action is when Stargirl was at the ball and she became popular for a little wile but then that ended when Hilary slaped her.

Resolution: I think the resolution was when Archie died and Leo has no one left and the her revived another porcupine necktie

  6. Hey Matt i think your plotline is good but on your rising action i think you should have put in something thre that was a little more important and later in the book because it's leading to the climax.

  7. Cassie's comment differs from mine mostly because the rising action and climax were two differents parts in the book. She said the rising acion was when Leo and Stargirl told their feelings about each other and she said the climax was when Leo chose the School over her. In my response however, I said that the falling action was when Stargirl said Leo was cute and the climax was when Stargirl hung the sheet on the RoadRunner.

  8. Exposition: The exposition of Stargirl was in the very beginning of the story. This was when we were first introduced to all the characters in the story.

Rising action: The rising action began when Stargirl sang "Happy Birthday" to Hillari and said Leo was cute. This began the tension of Stargirl and Leo's relationship.

Climax: The climax of the story was when no student but Dori was there to congratulate Stargirl for winning the competition. I think this was the climax because this was when it was clear that Leo and society were never going to side with Stargirl.

Falling action: The falling action took place when Stargirl left the parking lot and throughout the Ocotillo ball.

Resolution: The falling action ended and the resolution began when Stargirl moved. There was no more tension.

  9. Matt, I have a different opinion of the climax than you. You stated "... it started when Stargirl put up the sheet saying she loves Leo in red paint". I don't think this is the climax of the story because the climax is the battle where one side emerges as a winner. The climax is also when the release of tension begins. When Stargirl put up the sheet this action only added to the tension. This scene added to the tension because it embarrassed Leo even more. Also, another reason this can't be the climax is because no side emerges as a winner. This scene solves no conflicts in the story. It only makes them more intense.

  10. The expositon was at the beggining of the book when the main characters and the setting was introduced.
I think that the rising action was when Stargirl was cheering for the other team which led to the student body using the silence treatment.
I think that the climax was from Leo telling Stargirl to change to when stargirl was at the ball at the country club and was becoming popular again.
I think that the falling action was after Stargirl got slapped and kissed Hillary on the cheeck.
I think that the resoulution was at the end where Leo told us about the for sale sign in front of stargirls house and everything that followed.

  11. Exposition- When Stargirl and the other characters were intorduced.

Rising Action- When Stargirl became a cheerleader and started to cheer for the other team.

Climax- When Stargirl changes and when Stargirl won the contest.

Falling Action- Hilary slapped Stargirl and Stargirl kissed her on the cheek and ran away.

Resolution- When Leo goes to Stargirl's house and see the 'For Sale' sign and finds out she moved.

  12. I agree with Fredy because all the plotlines were in that spot in the book at least thats my opinion and i think that he need a little bit of work on the climax because it wasnt a ball it was the orictorical contest.

  13. Exposition: The exposition was on the first day of school. This was when Stargirl became the new student. In this part the main characters are getting introduced and Leo is starting to like Stargirl even though he doesn’t know it yet.

Rising Action: The rising action was when Stargirl started to get disliked. It was also when she started to flirt with Leo such as when she said he was cute at the end of lunch.

Climax: The climax was a little bit before and after Leo and Stargirl got back from the oratorical contest. It was when Stargirl finally accepted that no one liked her and decided that if no one liked her anyway, she might as well be herself.

Falling Action: The falling action was when everything went back to normal for a day or two. Then Stargirl showed up at the dance and everything changed. She got slapped by Hillary and she started being understood by others more. People actually started to like her again.

Resolution: The resolution was when the story was being summed up. It was when Leo reminisced about his life after Stargirl. During this time he found Stargirls “office” and was still trying to figure her out with Archie. This also led to an ending that might lead to the sequel Love, Stargirl.

  14. Nick and Noah, I think your plotline is GREAT and I agree with you guyz because the climax, rising action, resolution, exposition, and falling action is everything i have heard in the book. GOOD JOB!!!!

  15. Exposition: The exposition was when we were introduced to Stargirl and all of the other characters.

Rising action:The rising action started when Stargirl told Leo she thought he was cute. When Stargirl told Leo this they began their relationship.

Climax: The climax was when Stargilrl was on her way to her speech.

Falling action: The falling action was when Stargirl was at the Ocatillo Ball.

Climax: The climax was when Stargirl moved and when Archie died.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Exposition: When the main characters were introduced and Stargirl entered Mica.

Rising Action: When Stargirl began to become popular and a cheerleader. Then she started to cheer for the other team.

Climax: When Stargirl conforms to being a normal person.

Falling Action: At the Ocotilo Ball when Stargirl is almost like the center of attention. When she gets slapped by Hillary and Stargirl kissed her on the cheek. I think the kiss on the cheek to Hillary meant that Stargirl was emerging as the winner.

Resolution: Directly after Stargirl left the Ocotilo Ball. When Stargirls house was for sale. Everything after that, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Exposition: The exposition of “Stargirl” was in the first chapter area. Leo was introduced in the prologue, while everyone else, including Stargirl, was introduced during the first chapter. We got to see all of the character’s relations and we were introduced to their personalities.

Rising action: The rising action began when Leo first saw the moonlight on his bed sheet and thought of Stargirl. Leo’s feelings for Stargirl, and therefore the tension, began to build in that scene.

Climax: The climax of “Stargirl” happened after the oratorical contest, when Leo, Stargirl, and Mr. McShane pulled into the parking lot of the school and saw that only Dori Dillson was there to celebrate her victory. After this scene, it was obvious that society and Leo were never going to accept Stargirl.

Falling action: The falling action began when Leo and Stargirl went their separate ways. It continued throughout the Ocotillo Ball and through the “Bunny Hop” scene. It ended when Hillary slapped Stargirl. This was the falling action because the problem wasn’t completely resolved, though one side had emerged as the winner.

Resolution: I think the resolution began directly after Stargirl left Mica and later, when Leo found her office. The resolution ended when Leo and Archie went into the desert and Archie buried Barney.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cassie, now that I’ve read your response, I’m not sure when the resolution is. It’s true that things begin to tie up when Stargirl is slapped by Hillary, but I still think the resolution is when Leo sees Stargirl’s office and her birthday calendar with the heart next to Leo’s birthday. In that scene, Leo realizes how much she loved him.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Beginning:Leo moves in to the town and he gets a porcupine necktie and its the first day of school and Stargirl is what everyone is talking about.

Rising Action: the rising action is when Stargirl starts cheering for the other team. Also its when she helps the star basketball guy when he fell and hurt his ankle.

Climax: I think the climax was when Leo started to notice he liked Stargirl. Like when he was hiding under the car and cinnamon was eating out of his ear ( gross! ). Also when the students are not talking to Leo or Stargirl.

Falling Action: I think the falling action is when Stargirl did the bunny hop and everyone joined her.

Resolution: I think the resolution is when stargirl kissed Hilary on the cheek and then left. Also when Stargirl moved.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think the Exposition was when Leo recieved a mysterious Porcupine Neck tie in the mail.I think the Rising Action was when Stargirl sang "Happy Birthday" to Hillary and called Leo "Cute" this was the beginning of Stargirl and Leo's whole relationship.I think the Climax was when only Dori was there to congradulate stargirl after she won the oritorical contest.I think the Falling Action was when Stargirl got slapped by Hillary and Stargirl kissed her and left. The Resouluton was when Leo explained about the "For Sale"sign in front of Stargirl's house.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Noah, I kinda disagree with you because i don't think the falling action was when stargirl left the parking lot and throughout the Ocitillo Ball and also if you think that you should have given more details of why you think the falling action was throughout the Ball.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1: Leo gets a porcupine necktie
    2: Stargirl comes to MAHS
3: Stargirl comes back to the oritorical contest
    4:Stargirl goes to the ball
5: Stargirl moves to the Mid West

  23. Exposition the exposition is when they first where introducing the charecters and introducing stargirl.

I think the rising action begins when hillary first riducules stargirl.

I believe the climax was whenleo told stargirl to be normally and was yellin at her.

The falling actoin was mostly the time when stargirl went back to stargirl after being sussane.

The falling action happened whenleo saw stargirls office and said the dazzling light flourished in I belive.

  24. I agree with fredy more then myself he convinced me that that was all right.

  26. In the Exposition Leo got a porcupine necktie by someone and thinking it was from his uncle, later he went to school and heard there was a new girl that came to the high school named "Stargirl".

In the Rising Action Leo thinks of Stargirl and tries to figure her out and why she act really goofy and he get obsessed about her.

In the Climax Leo starts going out with Stargirl and he sees what she does and they both do everything together, Stargirl takes Leo to the enchanted place and they have fun, but Leo gets stuck with the "SHUNNING" because he is with Stargirl and since he’s with her the kids hate him to I think. She turns to Susan and she wins the oratorical contest but then she turns back and Leo is kind of sad/mad.

In the Falling Action Stargirl goes to the ball by herself and everyone likes her being there but Hillary is mad that she is not getting all of the attention by people, but everyone joins Stargirl’s bunny hop dance around the ball and Hillary slaps Stargirl and after that day she is gone.

In the Resolution Stargirl leaves, Leo gets to see her office, Archery go’s to a Retirement Home, Leo gets his dream job but Kevin doesn’t he does insurance, and there was a new school that opened right where Stargirl’s enchanted place was.

  30. Begging: Is when Leo gets a porcupine necktie for his birthday that mysteriously showed up on his door step.

Rising action: Is when Stargirl shows up to the school and becomes a complete outcast. Then she starts cheering for the opposing teams during the basketball games. And Leo realizes that he likes Stargirl a lot.

Climax: Is when everyone in school ignored Stargirl and Leo because they don’t like Stargirl because she cheered for the other team during the basketball game. So they ignored Leo too because Leo and Stargirl started dating.

Falling Action: Is when they had the ball. And Stargirl arrived in a unique way. Then they did the Bunny Hop for the rest of the dance. But Hilary got really upset and ended up slapping Stargirl across the face.

Resolution: Is when Stargirl kisses Hilary on the cheek after Hilary slapped her in the face. Then she disappears and Archie dies.

  33. I disagree with cassie when she said that the climax was when Stargirl and Leo expressed their feelings together. I think it wwas when the school started to hat stargirl and leo Because they were together.

  34. Exposition: First, the story tells of Leo's life and the porcupine necktie he recieves.Next, Jerry introduces Star and how everyone reacts towards her presence. Finally, tells of her rising popularity and of all the individuals coming out of hiding.
Rising Action: Leo starts to notice his growing affection for Star, they start to "flirt,"-Star's version-. Next, the students start to notice her annoyance or how different she acts, like a Saint, and start to slowly drift away. Then, the whole basketball thing happens and after that Leo and Star get together. Finally, the shunning, Leo notices the shunning.
Climax: Leo chooses who's affection he thought was more important, he chose the school's. Star is turned into Susan and Leo is even more ifactuated with her. Next, he notices how much she's trying to be "somebody," and then sees her wagon.Later, Sta-Susan, goes to the contest, wins, and when she gets back no one is there. Finally, Susan turns back into Star-woo!-Ahem, and she's happier being herself, but Leo feels disappointed.
Falling Action: Leo drifts away from Star, thus meaning the relationship is fin! Star is understanding and gives Leo his space. Then the Ball comes up, forcing Leo to chose not go with Star. Star arrives in fashion, and dances ,for only a littl while, by herself, but then someone dances with her causing the long, long bunny-hop line to occur. When it finally ends ,and they come back, Hillari slaps her loudly, but Star kisses her gently on the cheeck and never returns.
Resolution: Leo seeks comfort from Archie, he shows Leo Star's office. Leo leaves, becomes a set designer and when he returns, they bury Barney. The next time he returned Senor something is cut down, the shed is gone and so is Archie. Later, a day before his birthday, he recieves a porcupine necktie.

  35. Julia, I disagree with your climax because I dont think the climax is when Leo realizes he likes Stargirl. I think it is when she conforms to being a normal peron. Also maybe the Oritorical Contest.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Danny,my idea is much different from yours. I thought that the beggining/expositon was when all the characters were introduced unlike yours which was when Leo got the poquipine neck tie. Also im not sure if you noticed but you put your falling action before your rising action and your falling action doesnt make much sense. For your middle/climax you should have put more detail ,because if a person that had not read the book were to see it they would be confused.

  37. Exposition: The first day of school when all the characters are introduced to us.
Rising Action: When Stargirl starts cheering for the other teams at the basketball games.
Climax: When Leo tells Stargirl everyone hates her and Leo starts to ignore her.
Falling Action: When Stargirl kisses Hilari and moves away.
Resolution: When Archie shows Leo Stargirl's office.

Susan wins oritorical contest. Susan goes back to being stargirl. Leo and Stargirl break up. Stargirl goes to ball where she leads everyone in the bunny hop, Hiliry gets mad at Stargirl and she slaps her then Stargirl kisses Hiliry on the cheek showing forgiveness. stargirl moves and no one heres from her ever again.

  40. Exposition- When Leo introduces himself.

Climax- When Stargirl goes to the state ortatical contest and says leo is cute.

Falling Action- When Hilary smacks Stargirl and Stargirl kisses Hilary on the cheek and walks away.

Resoloution- This was at the end of the book, Leo was thinking about Stargirl years later and in Leos mailbox he finds another neck tie

  41. Exposition: The first day of school when stargirl is the new girl.

Rising action: When Stargirl calls Leo cute in the lunch room.

Climax: When they pull into the parking lot and no ones there to celbrate except dori dilson.

Falling action: When Leo and Stargirl stoped comunicating and whent there seprate ways.

    Resolution: When stargirl moves

  44. Exposition: The exposition was when all of the characters were being introduced.

Rising action: The rising action was when Stargirl told Leo he was cute and when she decided to become a cheerleader, I think this because this was when the tension built and the conflict started to emerge.

Climax: The climax was when Stargirl came back to Mica after the oratorical contest and only Dori Dilson and two teachers were waiting to congratulate Stargirl. I think this because Stargirl realizes that she will never be accepted.

Falling action: The falling action was when Leo ends up not going to the ball, I think this because this was when we know the conflict has been resolved and that Leo has chosen the students over Stargirl.

Resolution: The resolution was when Archie put Barney in the rock and when Leo looked into Stargirls office. I think this because Leo realizes how much Stargirl cared about him.

  45. EXPOSITION: The exposition of "STARGIRL" was when everyone was beginning to be introduced to the story including Stargirl.
RISING ACTION: The rising action of "STARGIRL" was when everyone started to shun Stargirl after the whole basketball incident.
CLIMAX: The climax of "STARGIRL" was when Stargirl wrote in big letters over the "Road Runner" that said she loved Leo. At first Leo was elated but then he was annoyed with her and had that big argument saying things to Stargirl about being normal.
FALLING ACTION: The falling action of "STARGIRL" was when Stargirl and Leo seperated. Also one reason Leo decided to go his own way was because Susan changed back into Stargirl. I think Leo did not want to face the shunning any more.
RESOLUTION: The resolution of "STARGIRL" was when Leo grew up and found the neck tie from Stargirl on his driveway.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Amy I disagree with you for your resolution because when Leo found the necktie from Stargirl it kind of ment that she would still be with Leo forever.

  47. Exposition - When Stargirl is first introduced in the very beginnning of the book. Everyone was whispering, "Did you see her?"
Rising Action - The rising action began when Stargirl became popular and everyone started acting/dressing like her. This includes when Stargirl was cheering for other basketball and football teams and her popularity began to decline.
Climax - I think the climax was when Stargirl and Leo came back from the Oratoracle contest and saw that only 3 people were there waiting for them.
Falling Action - The falling action was when Stargirl turned back to her normal self and she started the bunny hop line at the ball.
Resolution - The resolution is that Stargirl leaves and that's the last anyone ever sees of her.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Heather on your response it says climax twice and I think the last one should be resolution. I also agree with you about the resolution, I think its when she moved because it seems when she moves know one its bothered anymore. The resolution might also be when they all joined her in the bunny hop. There seemed to be no tension there.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tyhasiah - I'm not sure that the climax was when Stargirl changed, because that wasn't really when the conflict was most tense. I thought that the climax was when Stargirl and Leo got back from the oratoracle contest because that's when the popularity conflict was most tense. I think that when Stargirl changed, it was the rising action, and if that was the case, the climax would probably be when Leo had to choose Stargirl or the school.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Exposition: All of the characters got introduced and the author characterized them.

Rising action: Leo starts to realize that he likes Stargirl and she also feels the same way about Leo.

Climax: When Leo stalked Stargirl and went to her house, they kissed and Leo turned into Starboy.

Falling action: Leo stopped liking Stargirl because the school was shunning him for liking her.

Resolution: Stargirl left and Leo talks about his life after Stargirl.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Danny I disagree with you because you didnt mention that Stargirl left Mica and the fact that Leo got shunned. I also think you should have gave an example for each piece on the plotline.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I agree with Julia because she described everything perfectly, and she put in the most important parts of the plotline to go along with it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Exposition- The expodition was when Leo introduced all of the characters and explained of how different Stargirl is from the rest of the students at Mica Area High School.

Rising Action- The rising action began when Stargirl states that she thinks Leo is cute. This was when the tension began and Stargirl and Leo's relationship began to bloom.

Climax- The climax was when Leo confronts Stargirl and tells her that she needs to become "normal". By doing this, Leo answers Archie's question showing that he would rather have the school's affection then Stargirls'.

Falling Action- The falling action is when Stargirl wins the oratorical contest and only Dori is there to cheer her on.

Resolution - The resolution is that Stargirl becomes her normal self again and Leo decides to not ask her out to the ocotillo ball. However Leo misses alot at the ocotillo ball because Stargirl dazzles everyone by bringing spirit to the dance by doing the bunny hop. But what suprises everyone the most is that Stargirl moves the day after.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Exposition: In the beginning of the story, just before Leo moved to Arizona, his uncle gave him a porcupine necktie as a parting gift. Shortly after arriving, he recieved a porcupine necktie not from his uncle, but from an unknown sender. The author then introduces us to Leo's best friend, Kevin. Soon after the school year began, Stargirl arrives at MAHS.

Rising Action: Stargirl was a really weird girl who did things no normal person would even think of doing. Leo and Stargirl had strong feelings for each other and started to go out on dates. Stargirl then made the cheerleading squad. However, instead of cheering for MAHS only, she also cheered for the other team. Thus, the school began to shun her.

Climax: The climax occurred when Stargirl was heading back to Mica from Pheonix, where she won the Oratorical contest. The entire way back, she was talking about how much the school would love her. Unfortunately, only Dori showed up to congratulate her and that's where the tension reached it's peak.

Falling Action: Stargirl showed up at the Ocotillo Ball without a date, wearing this really weird dress. Dori drove her there on her flower patterned bike. At the ball, Stargirl lead the whole line in the Bunny Hop. This made Hillary furious and she slapped Stargirl. Instead of hitting her back, Stargirl kissed Hillary on the cheek.

Resolution: In the end, Stargirl ended up moving. Stargirl realized she would never be fully accepted by those at MAHS, and moving was one way to avoid further discomfort.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Elise, I noticed that you said that the climax was when Leo told Stargirl to start acting normal. I must disagree because this event is still part of the rising action. After Leo talks to Stargirl about acting normal, tension continues to increase. For example, the reader experiences even greater tension from the contest at Pheonix, which happened after the event you selected. This is why I think the climax is the scene where Stargirl returns to Mica and discovers that nobody, except for Dori, is waiting to congratulate her. This is where the tension has reached its peak, and then the tension begins to decrease. Overall, I think you did a great job!

  57. Julia,
Although I agree with you for most of the points on the plotline I disagree with what you wrote for the exposition. The exposition is when all of the characters are being introduced and not all the characters were introduced in the one scene in which Leo got the necktie. We all know that the scene was an important event but I don't think it was the exposition.

  58. Exposition: When Leo gets the porcupine necktie.
Rising Action: When Leo meets Stargirl and his decision to accept her.
Climax: When Leo decides he doesn't need the other's affection as much as Stargirl's.
Falling Action: When Leo and Stargirl go to the Oritorical Contest.
Resolution: When Leo tells the reader the epilogue.

  59. Tristen i disagree because the tension wasn't released, infact there was more tension after he bacame "Starboy" it seemed more like a climax when Leo exploded on stargirl for not being normal because then even though no one else liked Stargirl Leo felt better.

  60. I agree with Danny, but there is one mistake. When you typed in the points on the plotline, you put them in the wrong order. The order is exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Exposition: Leo receives a porcupine neck tie from an anonymous person.

Rising Action: Leo and Susan (Stargirl) had feelings for each other. They started going out on dates, holding hands during school etc.

Climax: Stargirl was on her way back from winning the oratorical contest. Then stargirl got worked up about the whole society congradulating on her winnings, but then when Stargirl and Leo pulled into the parking lot she became silent and noticed her friend Dori Dilson holding up a sign congradulating her.

Falling Action: When Stargirl came to the the Octillo ball (the junior dance) stargirl started dancing and everyone wanted to dance with her. Then Stargirl started doing the bunny hop dance. After that Hilary got very jealous and slapped Stargirl across the cheek. Instead of slapping Hilary back Stargirl gave her a kiss on her cheek.

Resolution: Stargirl became herself again and Leo never ended up talking to her. Then Leo went to talk to Archie about Stargirl, after a while Leo noticed how much Stargirl cared about him.

  62. Exposition- When we are intoduced to Leo, Stargirl and Kevin. That is when we meet the charcters and figure out the setting.

Rising Action- When Stargirl tells Leo he is cute. This is where we start to see the conflict and the action starts in the book. The rising action continues until Leo and Stagirl get into thier fight.

Climax- When Leo asks Stargirl to change. This is where one side emerges the winner. Because the conflict is man vs. self, he has to choose whos affection he values more, Stargirls or the schools. He chooses the school when he asks Stargirl to be like them.

Falling Action- I think the falling action is when Stargirl decides to be herself again because one side already won. Leo decided to be like the school and the students are ignoring Stargirl and the major fight is over.

Resolution- I think the resolution is when Stargirl kisses Hillari Kimble. That is when all the "loose ends" in the book are tied up and the side conflicts and action are over.

  63. Tristin--
I disagree that the climax of the book was when Leo and Stargirl kissed because the conflict wasnt over. at that point Leo still didnt make his discion of who's affection he valued more, The school's or Stargirl's. I do agree that the falling action was when Leo stopped liking Stargirl because he resolved his man vs. slef conflict by choosing to care what the school thought.

  64. Exposition: Leo moved to Arizona and gets a porcupine necktie from and unknown person.

Rising Action: Is when stargirl is at the basketball game and starts cheering for the other team. thats when leo realizes he likes her.

Climax: when stargirl won the oritorical contest and no one was there to cheer heer on except for Dori Dilson

Falling Action: the falling action is when Hillary slaped stargirl and then stargirl kissed her which meant she was sorry Hillary is so mean and then she left and no one saw her again.

Resolotion: the resolotion is when Leo Kept on coming back to his home to talk to archie how stargirl was.

  66. John, I agree with you and disagree with you at the same time. I think that the falling action was definitely at the Ocotillo Ball. I also agree that the resolution was at the end. What I don’t think, is that Stargirl had a choice to move. Her parents probably had a good reason for their unexplained move. Maybe the dad got a better job or maybe they had to sell the house for some reason. I disagree about your exposition though. I’m sorry John, but how does Leo getting a mysterious porcupine necktie introduce the characters, conflict and the setting?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Exposition: The exposition occured when everyone was talking about Stargirl and Leo didn't know who she was.

Rising Action: I think the rising action was when Stargirl sang Happy Birthday to Hilary after Hilary told her not to, and when she told Leo he was cute.

Climax: I think the climax is when Stargirl is when they leave Stargirl at the place and in school everyone starts shunning her.

Falling Action: I think the falling action was when Stargirl was doing the bunny hop and started becoming popular again and Hilary slapped her and Stargirl just kissed her.

Resolution: I think the resolution is when Leo was talking to Archy and Archy was making Leo realize how much Stargirl liked him, and cared about him and how he messed up.

  68. INTRODUCTION; WHEN STARGIRL CAME TO SCHOOL AND STARTED PLAYING THE YUKALAYLIE.
RISING ACTION; WHEN STARGIRL WAS BEING A CHEER LEADER AT THE FOOTBALL GAME AND WHEN THE CHEER CAPTAIN ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED TO BE ON THE CHEER SQUAD AND STARGIRL SAID YES.
CLIMAX; THE WHOLE BASKET BALL THING AND AFTER THE ORITORICAL CONTEST.
FALLING ACTION; AT THE DANCE WHEN EVERYBODY DANCED WITH HER EXEPT HILARY KIMBLE AND WAYNE PAR.
RESOLUTION; WHEN LEO KEPT GOING TO ARCHIES HOUSE AND SHOWED HIM HER OFFICE THEN ARCHIE DIED.

  69. Nick I dont agree with you how you say the Climax is when Stargirl won the contest. It doesn't show any tension and the Climax is where the tension builds.

  71. Exposition: I think the exposition was when we were introduced to all the characters, and the setting of Mica high school in Arizoona. I think this because it was like the beginning were everything that the author can tell you without giving it all away is what is told and said in the exposition.

Raising action: I think the raising action was when Stargirl and Leo kissed. I think this is the raising action because it helped the story develop and the tension around the conflict builds.

Climax: I think the climax was when Leo asked Stargirl to change because it really showed "who's affection he liked more."

Falling action: I think the falling action was when Stargirl kissed Hilary at the Ball. I think this because this really told Hilary that i forgive you and I thought that really showed the release of tension in the conflict.

Resolution: I think the resolution was when Stargirl moved, Archy died, and a school was built where Stargirls enchanted place was. I think this becaue I think ths showed the conflict has been resolved.

  72. EXPOSITION: The exposition in Stargirl was in the beginning when Leo got the porcipine necktie and the first day of school when everyone was asking about Stargirl.

RISING ACTION: The rising action in Stargirl was Stargirl's popularity increasing and then decreasing because of the whole basketball thing. Stargirl became a cheerleader but cheered for both the Mica Electrons and the opposite competing team.At the finals the Electrons lost because Stargirl stopped cheering because she felt bad for the other team. Then, the shunning began to build the tension. Also the rising action was Leo's devolping feelings for Stargirl and their relationship during the shunning. Stargirl and Leos love was strong enough for Stargirl to change into Susan for Leo.

CLIMAX: The climax in Stargirl was when Stargirl won the Oratorical Contest and came back to a crowd of three people, two teachers and Dori Dilson. Then Stargirl changed back to Stargirl and she was no longer Susan.

FALLING ACTION: The falling action in Stargirl was the ball when Stargirl started the Bunny Hop line and Hillari slapped Stargirl in front of everyone because Stargirl "ruined everything" for Hillari.

RESOLUTION: The Resolution in Stargirl was that Stargirl was never seen again by anyone she moved. Leo became a set designer and Archie died.

  73. John, I both agree and disagree with you. I agree with mostly everything you said but some points i disagree. I disagree with something you said in your rising action. You said that the students started to shun Stargirl because she cheered for the other team which is wrong. The shunning began because they lost the big game because Stargirl was cheering for both teams and when the other teams star Ron Kovaic got hurt she helped and confoted him. After he could no longer paly the other team began to lose . Stargirl felt bad so she left the game and the Electrons lost. You were close John but it was more then just her cheering for the other team. Otherwise I agreed with everything else you said. You did a really good job!

  74. Exposition: The exposition was when Leo went to Mica Area High School and he talked about all the people he knew(introduced the readers to his friends and non-friends)

Rising Action: The rising action was when Stargirl first came into Mica and Hilari Kimble said that she was a fake.

Climax: The climax was when everybody followed Stargirl(her style and stuff like that) like some of the girls bought rats like Stargirl.

Falling Action: The falling action is when Stargirls popularity declines because of the whole basketball thing and the shunning of Stargirl.

Resolution: The resolution was when at the end Stargirl left Mica Area High School without finishing the school year and no one saw her after that

  77. Exposition: When the author first introduced

Leo, Kevin, and Stargirl, this was the exposition of "Stargirl."

Rising Action: The rising action began when Stargirl sang Happy Birthday to Hillary and said Leo was cute during lunch at Leo's table. This is because tension began to build between Leo and Stargirl. Leo thinks that Stargirl is likes him but he is not ready to accept her.

Climax: The climax began after Stargirl had won the Oratorical contest no one came afterwards to congratulate her except the teachers and her best friend Dori Dillson. This was the height of the tension for Stargirl who realized nobody cared for her.

Falling Action: The falling action occurred when this ordinary student named Raymond started dancing with Stargirl. That's when everyone started liking her and danced the bunny hop with her.

Resolution: The resolution happened when Hillary slapped Stargirl and said, "You ruined everything." Afterwards, Stargirl kissed Hillary and moved to Minnesota the following day.

  78. Nick, i disagree with you about the resolution. I think the resolution was when stargirl left not when Leo kept coming back because, when Stargirl left the tention ended and whenever Leo came back that just made the reader think "o I wonder whats going to happen now that Leo's back?"

  87. I think that in Stargirl, the exposition is when the book starts and you here about Leo and how he had a porcupine necktie, and when Stargirl first came to school.

The Rising Action was when Stargirl had everyone doing what she did, like wearing long dresses, or appreciating her, but Hilari Kimble thaught that that was crazy and neglected Stargirl.

The Climax was when Stargirl returned from the oritorical contest with the plate. She expected to be mobbed but when Leo noticed a man who lives near the school paving his driveway, he knew that no one would be at the school. When they pulled in there was a large sign being held by Dorry Dilson, but it was shaking because she was crying and then it was made clear that no one cared about Stargirl.

The Falling Action was wheneveryone at the dance except Hilari, Wayne, and a few others, did the bunny hop and did not return to the dance for a while and when they returned, Hilari slapped Stargirl and Stargirl kissed her instead of hitting her back.

The Resolution was when Leo and Archie buried the skull, because that was when we knew that Stargirl is gone.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Danny, you don't have the words right, it's Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution. Also, the Climax is not when Stargirl turns normal, it is when she returns from the contest because that is when the conflict is greatest.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I disagree with Bria's respoce for many different reasons. One reason I disagree is because first of all the first stp on the plot line is exposition not beginning. Another reason is for the exposition it can't be when Leo gets the porcupine necktie or his birthday because that was a important part of the story but it didn't have to happen, the book wouldn't be much different if Leo never got the porcupine necktie. Another reason I disagree with what Bria wrote in her responce because for the Climax if you really think about it the climax is when the conflict has the most tension and someone emerges the winne. So everyone not talking to Stargirl and Leo can't be the clmax because who became the winner no one, this is why when Leo told Stargirl something had to change was the Climax because Leo really choose "who's affection he liked more," and that was the school that he liked more. Finally I disagree with Bria's responce because in the falling action thier should be a release of tension in the conflict, so the falling had to be when Stargirl issed Hilary because it showed her forgiveness and then thier wa no more tension in the conflict.

Falling action: When stargirl went to the dance and everyone was dancing wih her and she had everyone do the bunny hop. The Hilary got jealous and slapped Stergirl and she kissed her back.

  95. Exposition: I think the exposition was in the begging, when all the important characters (Leo, Stargirl, Kevin, Ect…) were introduced to us. This took place on the first day of school, because that’s when most of our important characters were introduced and we found out about them.

Rising Action: I think the rising action is when Stargirl sings “Happy Birthday” to Hilary Kimble, because the day before Hilary told her not to sing to her so she sang to Leo and the tension started to build more after that.

Climax: I think the climax was when Stargirl wrote that she loved Leo on the Roadrunner at first he was really happy, but then he got mad and yelled at Stargirl asking her to be normal and not herself.

Falling Action: I think the falling action was when Stargirl changed back to herself and wasn’t Susan any more, after she realized that being Susan wasn’t going to change the students minds.
